De esta forma, se pueden certificar los productos (cumple las funciones para las que ha sido dise\u00f1ado), optimizarlos, desecharlos\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, hay situaciones que se pueden estudiar mediante modelos virtuales. Esto es, no es necesario construir un banco de ensayos, sino que directamente con un software adecuado (y con conocimientos suficientes) se puede <em>conocer<\/em> el comportamiento de algo. No obstante, en ciertas situaciones no es posible (muy costoso computacionalmente o muy dif\u00edcil de modelar) por lo que se recurre a las t\u00e9cnicas tradicionales.<\/p>\n<p>Por ejemplo, en el inventario de las Fuerzas Armadas de EEUU existen varias plataformas encargadas de obtener informaci\u00f3n sobre los ensayos que se realizan con nuevos misiles. Esta designaci\u00f3n, NP-3D nace tras la unificaci\u00f3n por parte de la Armada de las precedentes UP-3A, RP-3A, RP-3D y EP3-B. A su vez, estos aviones fueron modificados de tal manera que nunca volver\u00edan a sus est\u00e1ndares originales P-3A o P-3B. Recibieron nuevos motores, instrumentos de cabina modernos y un sistema de radar meteorol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n<p>Parte de esta flota es la denominada <em>Billboard Orion<\/em>. Pertenece al <strong>Naval Warfare Test Squadron<\/strong> (NWTS), anteriormente conocido como Pacific Missile Test Center (PMTS). Estos aparatos contienen una antena localizada en la parte delantera del estabilizador vertical con unas dimensiones de 3,65 x 1,83 m. Su funci\u00f3n reside en la obtenci\u00f3n de informaci\u00f3n sobre los ensayos de lanzamiento de misiles guiados en los campos de pr\u00e1cticas cercanos a NAS Point Mugu. Esta labor se consigue recogiendo datos (velocidad, rumbo, altura\u2026) m\u00e1s all\u00e1 del horizonte. Es un instrumento \u00f3ptico giroestabilizado. Posee dos c\u00e1maras fijas, situadas en el lado de estribor, y cinco sensores. Es un sistema fotom\u00e9trico, que permite el grabado simult\u00e1neo del espectro electr\u00f3ptico e infrarrojo y de las emisiones infrarrojas de onda media. Esencialmente, provee soporte fotogr\u00e1fico en ensayos operacionales aire-aire, aire-tierra o tierra-aire. Bennie J. Davis III.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La plataforma toma como base el avi\u00f3n civil <strong>Bombardier Dash 8<\/strong>. Entre las modificaciones m\u00e1s visibles se localiza una gigantesca antena fija (aproximadamente 9,1 m de longitud) en el lado de estribor y una antena de radar en la parte ventral del fuselaje. La primera es la encargada de recoger los datos de los ensayos y veh\u00edculos no tripulados. Bennie J. Davis III.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Asimismo, la antena ventral forma parte del sistema Telephonics AN\/APS-143(V) Airborne Sea Surveillance Radar <strong>(OceanEye)<\/strong>. Es capaz de detectar una persona en un bote salvavidas a unas 25 millas como m\u00e1ximo. La informaci\u00f3n recogida por el radar de vigilancia mar\u00edtima se pone en conocimiento del oficial encargado de la seguridad en el <em>campo de tiro<\/em>. De hecho, el primer prototipo ya est\u00e1 volando con matr\u00edcula N544GD. Se especula con que tan s\u00f3lo se ha comprado el fuselaje certificado y que los equipos ser\u00e1n suministrados por contratistas estadounidenses.
